Franklin Loses HCAC Road Contest to Defiance

Defiance, Ohio - The Franklin College men's basketball team had six players score in double figures in a 90-83 loss at Defiance College on Saturday in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action.

Defiance shot 53.8 percent in the second half to turn around a 41-39 halftime deficit.

Junior Aaron Mann (Indianapolis, Ind./Howe) led the Grizzlies with 20 points on 5 of 6 shooting on three-point field goal attempts.

Junior Robbie Prather (Franklin, Ind./Roncalli) scored 15 points and had a team-high four assists. Junior John Beineke (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) added 13 points.

Senior Trae Washington (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) scored 12 points, while freshman Blake Oakley (Kokomo, Ind./Northwestern) had 11 points in the contest. Junior Trey Boles (Carrollton, Ky./Carroll County) scored 12 points off the bench.

Franklin used a 17-10 run over the final 7:22 of the first half to hold a 41-39 lead. Defiance scored the first seven points of the second half to take a 46-41 lead with 17:25 remaining. The lead grew to 14 points, 59-45, at the 12:15 mark of the second half.

Franklin got within seven points, 63-56, after two free throws by Boles at the 8:51 mark. The Yellow Jackets once again pushed the lead to 14 points before Franklin connected on three three-point field goals in the final minute to cut the deficit to the game's final margin of seven points.

Franklin returns to action on Wednesday, February 10, at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Hanover College from the Spurlock Center. Live video and statistics of the game will be available.
