Alfred University men’s basketball team drops E8 matchup to visiting Fisher

ALFRED, NY -- The A­­­­lfred University men's basketball team lost 73-64 to visiting St. John Fisher in an Empire 8 Conference contest Wednesday evening in the Galanis Family Arena.
 
AU (7-11, 3-6) trailed by nine (37-28) at the half as the visiting Cardinals shot 53 percent from the floor to Alfred's 32 percent. The Saxons closed the gap to four points in the second half but could draw no closer.
 
Freshman point guard Pat McLamore (Rochester, NY/Aquinas)scored a team-high 15 points for AU, connecting on three of the Saxons' three-point goals while dishing out three assists and making a pair of steals. Sophomore forward Dalton Cousin(Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) added 14 points and seven rebounds and junior guard Julian Reinhart(Hornell, NY/Hornell) chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
 
Fisher (12-4, 6-1 E8) shot 47 percent from the field and made 20 of 28 free throws. The Cardinals got a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds from center Keegan Ryan, while Alex Sausville and Tyler English each added 13 points.
 
AU is in action next on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at Utica.
