Bulldogs Win Overtime Thriller Against Lehman, 100-99

Brooklyn, NY---In front of a enthusiastic crowd at the West Quad Center Gymnasium, the Brooklyn men's basketball team pulled out big 100-99 overtime CUNYAC win for first-place against Lehman.  The Bulldogs improve to 16-3 overall and 9-2 in the CUNYAC.  Lehman drops to 14-6 and 8-3.  

Trailing 96-97 with :11 seconds left in overtime, reserve junior guard, Chris McIllhatton, knocked down a three point field goal to give the Bulldogs a two-point advantage and the lead for good.  After stopping the Lightning on the ensuing possession, senior guard Egzon Gjonbalaj would hit one of two free throws forcing Lehman to take a three-pointer in the final seconds, which they missed and put back for two just as time expired.  

Lehman took the lead on a layup off of a loose ball offensive rebound after BC forward Dennis Balsam blocked the Lightning's first attempt.   

With the Bulldogs up by eight with just under three minutes to go in regulation, Lehman would go on a 12-4 run ending on a Chaun Miller three-pointer with five seconds left that forced the game into overtime tied at 86.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 16 points in the second half and kept a seemingly comfortable lead up until the final three minutes of regulation.  

BC never trailed in the first half, grabbing their first double-digit lead of ten in the first seven minutes of the ballgame.  

Up by four points with 6:34 to go in the first half, the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run to boost their lead to eleven with 3:57 to go in the half.  BC would go into halftime with a 44-32 advantage. 

Senior forward Lorenzo Williams and senior guard combined for 31 points in the first half scoring 16 and 15 respectively.  Williams would finish the game leading all scorers with 35 points on the evening.  Gjonbalaj finished with a 30-point, 13 rebound performance.  

McIllhatton finished with nine points off of the Brooklyn bench on 3-6 from beyond the arc.  

Lehman forward Chaun Miller paced the Lightning with 30 points. 

The Bulldogs will continue CUNYAC play on Saturdayay College of Staten Island.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
