Pascual leads Lehman over Rutgers-Camden

BRONX, NY --- The Lehman College men's basketball team made it two wins in a row on Monday night, as they defeated visiting Rutgers University-Camden 87-69 at the APEX Gymnasium in the Bronx.

The short-handed Lightning of Lehman (14-5) were led by Edwin Pascual, who finished with a career-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Olando Minott also had 21, while John Brens dished out a career-high 13 assists with six points, five steals and four rebounds. Olusegun Williams continued his strong play of late, scoring 14 points and swatting away two blocks. Jobse Reyes came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points. Collectively, the Lightning shot 11 of 21 from behind the three-point arc and shot 53.3 percent from the floor.

In the first period, Pascual made his first five shots, including four-for-four from downtown as Lehman went into the half with a 45-29 advantage. The Lightning used a balanced scoring attack in the second half, with 13 players earning playing time with eight making baskets.

Abby Bah led the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden (2-14) with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Isaac Destin also posted a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

The Lightning will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Brooklyn College to face the Bulldogs in a 7:15 p.m. game. The teams will be playing for first place in the CUNY Athletic Conference standings.
