St. Lawrence comes back for 79-70 win at Union

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Kyle Kobis and Kyle Edwards scored 17 points each as the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team defeated Union College, 79-70 at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday. The Saints are now 4-3 in Liberty League play and 8-7 overall, while the Dutchmen fell to 4-5 in the league and 6-10 overall.

The Saints trailed 33-17 at halftime but shot 65% in the second half to post 62 points on the board in the win. Ben Crawford had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Willie Zachery scored 13 with five assists. Kobis also had nine rebounds and Riley Nacierio scored nine points. St. Lawrence out rebounded the Dutchmen 44-38 and shot 43% for the game.

William Hython led the Dutchmen with his fifth straight double-double, 16 points and 15 rebounds. Deshon Burgess scored 15 with five assists while Zachary Bouton had 11 points and Wade McNamara added 10. Union shot 50% in the first half and 45% for the night.

Trailing 7-6, Union went on a 20-2 run over the next 9:20 for a 26-9 lead with 7:06 left in the first half. ????The Dutchmen led by as many as 19 at 41-22 after a layup by Whelpley with 17:42 left in the second half. Union led by 13 at 51-38 with 10:50 to play, but the Saints then went on a 21-8 run in 13:07. Kobis had a layup with 4:35 to go for the 60-59 lead. The Sainta went up by as many as 13 at 74-61 with 1:07 left to play.

Union will host Hobart Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Liberty League action.
