Bates men's basketball tripped up on the road by Connecticut College, 73-62

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Bates led at halftime but a couple of extended runs in the second half propelled Connecticut College to a 73-62 victory over the Bobcats Friday night. 

The Camels (12-5, 3-2) powered their way to victory behind a game-high 23 points from David Labossiere and a game-high 16 rebounds from Zuri Pavlin. 

Meanwhile Mike Boornazian '16 (Portland, Conn.) paced the Bobcats (9-8, 2-3) with 15 points. He also hauled down seven rebounds and dished out four assists.

Shawn Strickland '18 (Middletown, Conn.) contributed 12 points on 5-9 shooting and finished with a game-high seven assists. Josh Britten '16 (Yarmouth, Maine) also chipped in 12 points and Marcus Delpeche '17 (Wilmington, Del.) finished with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. 

Britten had a big first half for the Bobcats with a team-high nine points, knocking down three three-pointers, including a triple with 4:11 to go in the half to put Bates up 20-17. After a bucket by the Camels, Bornazian hit a three of his own with 3:09 to go to extend the lead to 23-19. Another Britten three with 1:11 remaining in the half put the Bobcats up 26-21. Bates went into the break up 28-23 after a Marcus Delpeche tip-in closed the first half scoring. 

The second half saw the Camels shoot a red-hot 57.7% from the floor. Labossiere scored 20 of his game-high 23 in the second half. 

Pavlin hit a jumper to tie the game at 38 with 12:26 to go and the Camels went on an 11-0 run. Bates battled back to tie the game at 49 with 6:43 to go on a Malcolm Delpeche '17 (Wilmington, Del.) layup.

But a quick 7-0 run by the Camels put them in the lead for good. Bates never got closer than to within five points after that.  

The Bobcats look to bounce back Saturday night when they visit Wesleyan. Opening tip is set for 3:00 p.m.
