FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team (2-16, 2-6) used a pair of 21-point outings by Logan Nichols (Minot, Maine/Poland) and Sean Murphy(Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) to get past New England College (5-11, 2-7) on Friday night with an 88-82 North Atlantic Conference overtime win.

After scoring a career-high 28 points last weekend at Thomas, Nichols followed up his performance with 21 points tonight on 6-of-9 shooting and made 5-of-7 attempts from three-point land. The senior also shot 4-of-5 from the charity stripe, recorded five rebounds, and five assists. Murphy set a career-high with 21 points and also made five attempts form long range.

The Beavers used a balanced scoring attack as freshman Anfernee Dent (Jackson, Miss./Daegu) came only one bucket away from setting a new career-high with 18 points and senior Nick Hilton(Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) contributed 16 points for the Beavers.  Eric Berry (Weld, Maine/Mt. Blue) scored 10 points with a pair of steals.

New England College had its own pair of 20-point scorers. Frantzy Georges tallied a game-high 28 points for the Pilgrims on 10-of-16 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. Georges had a double-double at halftime with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Dondre James netted 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and a perfect 6-for-6 from the line.

With 2:22 left in regulation, Berry and Nichols sank back-to-back triples to give UMF a four-point advantage, but NEC's Dezron Wilson made a pair of layups in the final minute to force the extra period.

In the extra session, James made a layup with a minute and a half to go and gave the Pilgrims an 80-79 lead. Murphy nailed a three-pointer to give the Beavers a two-point advantage but Georges answered with a layup in the paint to tie the game.

Nichols and Murphy combined to make 6-of-6 from the foul line in the final 43 seconds to seal the victory.
