GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy picked up its sixth-straight win with an 80-57 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory over Cairn Wednesday night at The Griffin Complex.

Senior Julian Hyden and junior Arron Goodman registered 18 points apiece while junior Cedric Elleby totaled 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Griffins (11-5, 9-0 CSAC) used a big 22-6 run in the latter stages of the first half to open up a double-digit lead to which they would keep the rest of the way.

Gerroid Doughty scored 13 points for the Highlanders (7-9, 3-6 CSAC). Teammates Jeremiah Harris and Josh Vlna added nine each. Jordan Sharpe grabbed 11 rebounds for Cairn.

After seven lead changes early on, no team would lead by as much as four in the first eight minutes of the contest.  A Cairn bucket put them ahead 16-15 with 11:22 before the half. That's when GMercyU used Elleby's jumper at the top of the key followed by a three-pointer from senior Brian Hennessey to kickstart their scoring run. Doughty's three pulled the Highlanders back within 22-19, Gwynedd netted the next eight points.

Later, Courtney Cubbage's twisting bucket inside gave GMercyU a 37-22 edge, their largest of the half, with 4:15 in the stanza. Gwynedd went into the lockerroom up 37-26.

Hyden's layup restored a double-figure lead a minute into the second, where the Griffins would gradually extend. The lead would hit 20 after two Cubbage free throws with 7:08 remaining in the game.

Cubbage would total nine points and seven boards in his first collegiate start. Hyden dished out a team-high five assists and added three steals and eight caroms while hitting three of the team's seven three-pointers. Hennessey hit two treys and finished with seven points.

After shooting, 41% in the first half (15-of-36), GMercyU turned it up in the second, going 16-for-31 (51%).  Cairn would shoot 36% for the contest (20-of-55).

Gwynedd Mercy is back in action on Saturday when they head to Immaculata to continue CSAC play. Tip is slated for 3 p.m. as part of a conference doubleheader following the women's matchup.
