Estarfaa Hot from the Arc as Cortland Cruises Past New Paltz, 81-50

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Blair Estarfaa (Buffalo/Maryvale) made 8-of-11 shots, all from 3-point range, and finished with a game-high 24 points as Cortland won 81-50 at New Paltz for its sixth straight victory. The Red Dragons improved to 9-1 overall and remained unbeaten in SUNYAC play with a 3-0 mark.

Estarfaa connected on a career-high eight of Cortland's 13 successful 3-pointers. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists. JP Reagan (Cortland) was the Red Dragons' other double-figure scorer with 11 points, all in the first half, and Justin Cooper (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) finished with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Grequan Carter (Queens/Campus Magnet) handed out a career-best seven assists and also registered seven points and six rebounds.

R.J. Rosa led New Paltz (1-8, 0-3 SUNYAC) with 18 points and four steals. He hit 4-of-7 from 3-point range and grabbed four rebounds. Andrew Seniuk and Nick Paquette scored nine points each.

Cortland used a 12-1 run midway through the first half to extend an 18-12 lead to 30-13. The Red Dragons led 34-15 after a Michael Kelly (Monroe/Burke Catholic) layup with 3:48 left, but the Hawks scored the final 10 points of the half, five by Rosa, and trailed by only nine at the break.

The Red Dragons' lead grew to 21 points at 53-32 on an Estarfaa trey with 14:06 remaining. He also hit 3-pointers on Cortland's next two possessions to up the lead to 59-34 with 12:31 left, and Cortland led by at least 23 points the rest of the game.

Fourteen different Cortland players reached the scoring column in the victory. The Red Dragons shot 43 percent from the field, compared to 40 percent for New Paltz, and Cortland committed only nine turnovers to the Hawks' 18.

Cortland will host Geneseo next Tuesday, January 12, at 6 p.m.
