SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bates men's basketball team scored a season-high 93 points, Malcolm Delpeche grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds and the Bobcats beat Husson for the second time this season, this time by a score of 93-74, to win the Naismith Classic on Sunday.

Shawn Strickland '18 (Middletown, Conn.) and Mike Boornazian '16 (Portland, Conn.) earned spots on the All-Tournament Team, with Strickland winning the tournament's MVP award.

Strickland followed up his game-winning shot on Saturday with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists on Sunday. His 17 points matched Boornazian for the team-high on the evening.

Meanwhile Malcolm Delpeche '17 (Wilmington, Del.) hauled in a remarkable 17 rebounds, 13 on the defensive glass, surpassing his previous career-high of 16 rebounds in one game.

Senior captains Boornazian and Josh Britten (Yarmouth, Maine) were hot from beyond the arc, combining to make eight of 13 threes.

The Bobcats (7-5) actually trailed 16-14 midway through the first half before Boornazian buried a three to give them the lead for good with 10:53 to go in the half. A 9-1 run ensued and Bates controlled the remainder of the first half, taking a 10-point lead into halftime.

While Raheem Anderson (game-high 21 points) and Trevon Butler (20 points) did their best to keep Husson (6-3) in it, the Eagles never got closer than to within eight points in the second half of action.

All 12 of Britten's points came in the second half as Bates tallied 48 points to get to 93 on the night. Their previous high for points scored on the season was 92 in a loss to Southern Maine.

Bates' 93 points are the most they've scored in one game since November 30, 2014 when they beat the University of New England 101-85.

The Bobcats' previous win over Husson this season came on December 8 at Alumni Gym, an 86-67 victory. It's their fifth consecutive win overall against the Eagles.
