Bethany's Alan Harper Named PAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Dec. 21 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – For his efforts in leading the Bethany College men's basketball team to their third straight victory, Bison senior Alan Harper (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week, announced the PAC on Monday afternoon.

Harper lifted the men's basketball team to their fourth win in the team's last five games, an 88-75 victory over Franciscan University on Thursday evening. In the win, Harper shot efficiently from the field, posting a career-high 25 points in the win.

The senior forward posted double-digit scoring in each half, notching 13 points in the first half and another 12 in the closing stanza. Harper knocked down a season-high six three-point baskets, shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from behind the arc and 8-of-11 overall.

On the season, Harper has led the second unit for the Green & White, averaging 10 points per game. His efforts off the bench have helped the Bison reserves outscore their opponents in five of their first eight games this season.

The senior currently ranks fourth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in three-point percentage, shooting a career-best .438 from outside the arc. Harper has scored in double figures in four of the team's first eight games, and has done so twice during the Bison's three-game winning streak.

Harper and the Bison will be back in action on Monday, December 28 as the travel to Randolph-Macon College to compete in the RMC Coaches' Tournament.  Bethany will compete against Wesley on Monday at 5 p.m. before competing against either Randolph-Macon on Bryn Athyn on Tuesday.
