The Lead: Roanoke rallied from a 12 point halftime deficit and scored a thrilling 108-97 double-overtime ODAC win against Shenandoah Thursday evening in Salem

How it Happened:

  • Cameron Smith had a career-high 30 points, making13-of-20 shots from the floor. Joey Miller scored 20 points, including 16 in the second-half and two overtime periods. John Caldwell had a career-high 18 points and John Fitchettchipped in with 16 points.
  • Fitchett and Caldwell had eight rebounds apiece helping RC to a 39-37 edge on the glass, including a 22-16 advantage following the first-half.
  • RC is now 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the ODAC for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
  • Shenandoah shot a blistering 59.4% in the first-half and held the Maroons which entered the game as the nation's second leading team in points per game to 2-of-14 from behind the arc and a season low 34 points in the first 20 minutes of play.
  • RC rallied in the second-half but SU still led by seven points with 2:25 to go in the game at 80-73. A Miller basket sparked what would prove to be an 8-1 run to close the game for RC in which Miller had six of those points, including the game tying field goal with 22 seconds to play.
  • After each team scored 11 points in the first overtime, RC came out and scored seven of the first nine points of the second overtime to gain breathing room and gain the victory.
  • Shenandoah was led by E.J. Baltimore with 19 points.
