Starters Lead the Way for UMF in NAC Opener at Husson

BANGOR, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team (0-4, 0-1) had three starters score in double figures on Tuesday night with an 88-65 loss at Husson University (2-1, 1-0) in the North Atlantic Conference opener.

Sean Murphy (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) led the way for the Beavers with 14 points and sank four shots from beyond the arc. Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) had a mirror effect on his stat line with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ryan Camire (Acton, Maine/Sanford) added 10 points and made 6-of-8 shots from the charity stripe.

Trevon Butler guided the Eagles with 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Butler sank three attempts from long range and was a perfect 7-for-7 at the line. Butler also set a team-high with nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Raheem Anderson contributed 17 points to the Husson offense and Jordon Holmes charted 14 points off the bench.

UMF had its best shooting performance of the season at 44.0% (22-50) and outscored Husson in the paint, but the Eagles nailed 13 shots from three-point land and used 32 bench points to their advantage.

UMaine-Farmington continues conference play on Friday at Castleton.
