SEWANEE, Tenn. (Dec. 1, 2015) – Behind a career-high 19 points by senior Seth Brown, the Sewanee men's basketball team earned a 64-51 win over regional-rival Covenant, Tuesday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The victory avenged the Tigers' only loss of the season, which came at Covenant on November 17th. Additionally, Sewanee extended its home winning streak to 13 straight games dating back to December of 2014.

Along with Brown, senior Keshonn Carter helped the Tigers dominate inside the paint with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double. Junior guard Clay Born also played well, just missing a double-double. Born finished with 11 points and a season-high nine rebounds.

In the first half, Sewanee played like a team that was determined to even the score from its only loss of the season. The Tigers made 56 percent of their attempts the opening 20 minutes en route to a 10-point, 33-23, halftime lead.

In the second half, Sewanee stayed aggressive. A jumper by Carter opened a 9-2 run to start the half. During the first six minutes out of the locker room, Sewanee had points from Carter, Brown, Born, and Brody Stone.

Facing its largest deficit of the contest, 17 points, with 16:55 to play, the Scots chipped away. A jumper by Chris Boyd opened an 8-2 run by Covenant. However, with Covenant's offense finally clicking, Sewanee answered back when Born hit a three with 9:22 to play.

The Scots cut the Tiger lead to eight, 55-47, with 5:29 remaining after another layup by Boyd. However, with the shot clock running down, junior Jorden Williams hit a deep three at the top of the key to push the Sewanee advantage back to 11.

From there, Covenant did not get to within single digits.

Overall, Sewanee made 44.6 percent of its attempts. The Tigers also dominated the glass, outrebounding Covenant 42-27. That helped Sewanee outscore the Scots in the paint, 36-20.

Additionally, Covenant entered the game averaging over 70 points per contest. After limiting the Scots to their lowest output this season, Covenant made only 37 percent of its shots against the Tigers.

Guard Ben Phelps paced the Scots with a team-high 19 points off the bench.

Sewanee returns to action with a 4:00 p.m. (EST) contest at Piedmont, Saturday.
