Hartwick Ties Program Record With 20 Three-Pointers in Win Over SUNY Cobleskill

            CLINTON, NY – Hartwick drained 20 three-pointers to tie a 2010 program record on Sunday in a 96-80 victory over SUNY Cobleskill in the consolation game of the Hamilton Invitational. The Hawks made 20 of 39 (51.3%) from beyond the arc in the victory, which moves them to 3-2 on the season. 'Wick last hit 20 threes in a home win over St. Joseph's on November 19, 2010.
            Trevor Norton (Mullica Hill, NJ/Ursinus College) and Joey Lufkin (Argyle, NY/Argyle) combined to score 49 points for the Hawks in the contest. They also combined for 11 three-point field goals. Norton made 10-of-15 from the floor and 7-of-10 from three-point range for a game-high 29 points. He also added six rebounds. Lufkin made 6-of-11 from the field and four threes for 20 points.
            A three-pointer from Norton with 14:23 remaining in the first half would put Hartwick in front for the rest of the day. 'Wick built its advantage to 11 points three times in a span of three minutes later in the stanza, but would settle on a 45-37 edge at halftime.
            The Fighting Tigers would claw their way to within four points, 48-44, with 2:19 gone in the second half before Norton would nail five three-pointers in a 2:57 span to put Hartwick in front by a margin of 15 points, 66-51. Back to back Lufkin threes on the Hawks' next two trips increased the lead to 21 with 11:04 remaining.
            A Matt Knezovic (Ballston Lake, NY/Mansfield University) trey gave Hartwick its biggest edge of the day with 4:41 left, 88-62. The Hawks would hold around a 20-point lead until the two-minute mark of the game. Cobleskill would get the score a little closer with a 24-6 run to end the game.
            Hartwick would shoot 50% (32-of-64) for the game. The Hawks would knock down 12 three-pointers in the second half out of 22 attempts.
            Knezovic would finish the game with a season-high 15 points. He would make 4-of-5 from downtown. Jake Sinicki (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) also was in double figures for the Hawks with 12 points. He contributed a game-high of eight rebounds.  Brandon LaForest (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) dished out a career-high nine assists to go along with six points, and five rebounds.  
            The Fighting Tigers received 15 points from Brian Jackson. Ralph Erickson scored 12.
            Hartwick hosts SUNY Oneonta in its home opener on Tuesday night at Lambros. Game time is 8 p.m.
