LOS ANGELES — Spencer Levy scored 28 points, including 8 of 14 shooting from deep, and Jay Miller added 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists as the Occidental men's basketball team cruised past Cal Miramar 77-64 at Rush Gymnasium on Friday.

Season Impact: Oxy goes to 2-1 on the year, finishing off its second double-digit win in a row. Cal Miramar falls to 0-1.

Oxy big men Andrew Johnson and Andrew Garrison were outstanding passing the ball, combining for seven assists and just one turnover out of the low post and elbow. Johnson, who scored 20 points in each of Oxy's first two games, put in 14 points with five rebounds. Garrison added eight points, six rebounds, four assists and no turnovers.

The Tigers shared the ball well as a group, consistently making the extra pass, finishing with 18 assists to 10 turnovers as a team. Levy and Kory Hamane were the beneficiaries of the quick ball movement, combining for 10 made threes.

Levy, a senior from Calabasas, made four threes in each half. Hamane, a senior from Pasadena, had eight points and four assists. Both are shooting above 50 percent from long range through Oxy's first three games.

Devin McDonough, Tyler Brown and Anthony Mathiais led Cal Miramar with 13 points each.

Cal Miramar kept it close in the first half (37-35) with offensive rebounding and 6 for 12 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. But the Tigers limited the Fighting Falcons to just a pair of o-boards and 29 percent shooting from the three in the second.

Joe Compagno made a solid contribution off the bench for Oxy, playing good help defense, to go along with five points and a pair of rebounds in 21 minutes.

Next Game: The Tigers face West Coast Baptist on Tuesday at 4 p.m for the second time this season. Oxy won at West Coast Baptist 68-50 on Nov. 17.
