MONARCHS FALL TO SUSQUEHANNA IN FINALS OF PEPSI TIP-OFF CLASSIC

SELINSGROVE -- The host Susquehanna University men's basketball team scorched the nets for 48 first-half points and connected on 14 three-pointers in the game as the Crusaders posted a 92-60 win over King's College in the championship game of the Pepsi Tip-Off Classic Saturday in Selinsgrove.  

With the win Susquehanna improved to 3-1 while King's slipped to 3-1.

The Crusaders opened the game with 13-4 run and never trailed. The lead then grew to 22-10 with 10:14 left in the first half on a Dalton Reichard three-pointer.  King's closed to seven points when a Tom Heston inside bucket trimmed the lead to 22-15 at the 9:34 mark but the Crusaders outscored King's 26-12 the rest of the way to rake a comfortable 48-27 lead into the locker room.   The Monarchs drew no closer the rest of the game.

Nate Oliver led King's with 19 points in the game. Heston and Dan Rutecki added eight points and three rebounds. Oliver and Heston were both named to the all-tournament team.

John Fazzini contributed seven points  two rebounds and two assists while brother Chris Fazzino also scored seven points. John Dini chipped in with five points and two assists.

For Susquehanna, Dan Weiss netted 20 points with six rebounds while Brandon Hedley followed with 17 points and four three-pointers. Dalton Reichard added 14 points with four treys while Steve Weidlich contributed 14 points five rebounds, and four assists.

Susquehanna shot 53.2 (33-62 from the field and made 46.7 (14-30) from three-point range. The Crusaders also dominated the boards, outrebounding King's by a whopping 50-24 margin.

King's returns to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Drew University in Madison, NJ
