CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Carrel Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haita/Deer Park (NY)) scored a career-high 23 points and earned a spot on the all-tournament team as Cortland defeated Bridgewater State University of Massachusetts, 100-67, during the second day of the Cortaca Classic.

Cortland and Ithaca, who co-hosted the tournament for the second straight year, each finished 2-0 in the predetermined schedule. Ithaca defeated Cobleskill in the first game Saturday at Cortland, 93-68, as well as beating Bridgewater State in Ithaca on Friday. Ithaca's Joey Flanagan was named tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Marc Chasin along with Joseph, Cobleskill's Brian Jackson, and Bridgewater State's Greg Romanko.

Joseph made 9-of-12 field goals, which included 3-of-4 from the 3-point arc, and he also led the Red Dragons (3-0) with nine rebounds. Senior JP Reagan (Cortland) was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor with three 3-pointers in a 17-point effort off the bench.

Freshman Justin Cooper (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) and sophomore Zach Lydon (Elizaville/Stissing Mountain) each added 10 points and senior Blair Estarfaa (Buffalo/Maryvale) tallied nine points. Cooper was 6-for-6 from the foul line and pulled down six rebounds. Lydon made 4-of-8 shots overall, 2-of-4 from the arc, and added five rebounds. Sophomore James Morales (Mount Kisco/Fox Lane) paced the Red Dragons with five assists and three steals.

Bridgewater State (1-4) was led by Romanko's 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He connected on 5-of-8 shots from behind the 3-point line. Joseph Carty added 12 points and nine rebounds and Rocky DeAndrade dished out four assists.

Cortland hit 15-of-33 shots (46 percent) from 3-point range and 49 percent from the field overall. The Red Dragons' 15 treys are two shy of the school single-game record and their most since going 15-for-30 from the arc versus Geneseo in the 2012 SUNYAC semifinals in Oswego.

The Red Dragons extended a 20-19 lead with 11:28 left in the first half to 37-21 with 6:06 remaining. Joseph made two 3-pointers and Cooper and Reagan each scored four points in that stretch. Cortland led 45-30 at halftime and steadily pulled away in the second half. The Red Dragons hit the century mark for the first time in two years when freshman Dan Schweitzer (Poughquag/Arlington) connected on a 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining.

Cortland is idle next week and will host Ithaca on Tuesday, December 1, in a non-league matchup.
