DALLAS, PA—The Alfred University men's basketball team (1-1, E8 0-0) fell to SUNY Geneseo in the first round of the Misericordia University Tournament, 81-78, despite junior Eric Adams (Lebanon, NJ/Hunterdon Central) notching his second double-double of the year.

Junior Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) led the Saxons with 16 points while Adams finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Tristin Hook (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown North) had a career-high 10 points and added three rebounds.

AU led the Knights at half-time 39-31 behind a 28-15 run to open the game. However, Geneseo bounced back in the second half opening on a 12-4 run to tie the game at 43-43.  The Saxons grabbed hold of another lead following the Knights' run by pitching a 7-0 run of their own.  However, the Geneseo's resilient offense put together enough points to grab a four-point lead with 3:26 to go in the game.  Geneseo hit 10-of-10 free throws to end the game on top, 81-78.

AU shot 30-of-73 (41.1%) while Geneseo only hit 38.9% (21-of-54) of their shots. The Knights held a significant edge in free throws by nailing 30-of-33 (90.9%) as the Saxons made 9-of-16 (56.3%) of their free throws.

AU looks to rebound tomorrow when they take on Summit University of Pennsylvania  at 2PM. Summit lost to Misericordia in Friday's other first-round game.
