BUFFALO, NY—Gordon Lyons netted 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead visiting Geneseo (12-8/8-5) to a 78-72 victory over Buffalo State (13-8/9-6) in a SUNYAC game tonight at the Sports Arena, stopping the Bengals' three-game winning streak.

Geneseo scored the first eight points of the game and opened up a 29-17 lead midway through the opening half.  The Bengals knocked down seven first-half 3-pointers, however, and took a 43-42 lead into the intermission.

The lead changed five times in the second half with Buffalo State's biggest lead coming by five at 55-50.  Lyons hit a pair of free throws with 8:15 remaining to break a 60-60 tie, and Geneseo never surrendered the lead again.  The Knights led by seven with 3:21 remaining, before the Bengals closed the gap to 75-72 with 1:09 remaining.  The Knights made just 3 of 8 free throws in the final minute, but it proved to be enough as Buffalo State could not convert at the other end.
