BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team celebrated Homecoming Day by rallying past Medgar Evers College, 84-66, in the APEX Main Gym on Saturday afternoon. The Lightning have now won three games in a row, all in CUNY Athletic Conference play.

Senior guard Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn./Windsor) was named the Ed Kramer Most Valuable Player for Lehman College during Homecoming. The award was presented by Cheryl Kramer, the widow of Coach Kramer. Greenfield scored 26 points and dished out four assists. He shot 8-11 from the field.

With less than three minutes to go in the first half, the Lightning (12-7, 7-3 CUNYAC) and the Cougars (2-16, 1-9 CUNYAC) were tied at 28. Lehman was able to close the first period strong by scoring nine of the last 11 points, highlighted by five points from Greenfield, to go into the break leading 37-30.

In the second half, the Lightning continued where they left off in the first half by going on a 13-0 run, in a span of 2:13, capped off by back-to-back three-point baskets from junior forward Chaun Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eleanor Roosevelt) and freshman guard John Brens (Washington Heights, N.Y./All Hallows) to put the home team up, 50-31, with 16:11 remaining in the game. That put the game out of reach for Medgar Evers as the Lightning dominated the rest of the way to pick up their seventh conference victory of the season.

Millier and junior guard Olando Minott (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) each tallied 17 points, while Brens scored 11.

The Lightning will once again be in the APEX Main Gym on Wednesday, for a key CUNY Athletic Conference game against Brooklyn College, at 7:30 p.m.
