Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team concluded its comeback victory on Friday night with a thrilling 84-76 overtime win over the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action at the West Quad Center.

Brooklyn is now 2-1 in overtime games this season, as the Bulldogs lost their season opener, 95-88, in overtime at William Paterson University and defeated The Sage Colleges, 94-90, in overtime in the championship final of the Manhattanville College AJ Buchanan Classic.

With the win, BC moves to 16-3 overall on the season and 8-2 in the CUNYAC; while John Jay falls to 3-16 overall on the year and 2-8 in conference play. The win is also the 50th victory at the West Quad Center since the building opened in 2009-2010, as the Bulldogs remain perfect at home this season with an 8-0 record.

The win also gives the Bulldogs the season sweep over the Bloodhounds, as Brooklyn defeated John Jay, 84-74, back on December 6th.

John Jay controlled the first half leading from the opening tip until the halftime buzzer. The Bloodhounds scored the first eight points of the game and would eventually take a 12-point, 41-29, lead into the locker room after the first 20 minutes. The visitors used a hot shooting hand to build its halftime cushion, as John Jay shot 60% (18-for-30) from the field, including going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.

With the Bloodhounds still leading by 12, 58-46, with 10:11 remaining in the game; the Bulldogs would go on a 19-6 run to take a 65-64 lead, their first lead of the game, with 1:33 left on the clock.

John Jay would retake the lead on the next possession with a jumper from Kris Owens to put the visitors back up by one, 66-65. The Bloodhounds would later increase their lead to two on a free throw from Korede Griffith that made it 67-65 with 43 seconds remaining.

The Bulldogs would go on to tie the game for the first time at 67 all on a layup from Nicholas Grasso. John Jay would have a last shot to win the game in regulation; however, Owens' jumper would not fall as the teams would go on to play the extra frame.

In the overtime period, the Bulldogs' Lorenzo Williams sparked a 10-0 run for the home team, scoring the first five points in the surge.  Brooklyn would never look back en route to its 84-76 win.

Williams finished with a double-double, notching 27 points and 15 rebounds, both game-highs. Jai Kellman added 17 points, while Jamel Gist chipped in with 15 points. Egzon Gjonbalaj also registered a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, to go with five assists.

Owens ended his night with 21 points and 12 rebounds for John Jay. Korede Griffith also added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Darell Robinson netted 18 points and dished out seven assists.

For the game, BC shot 39.2% (29-for-74) from the field, including just 23.1% (9-for-39) from three. Brooklyn shot 54.8% (17-for-31) from the charity stripe.

John Jay shot 43.8% (32-for-73) from the field, including 33.3% (7-for-21) from beyond the arc. The Bloodhounds were plagued by poor free throw shooting, as John Jay shot just 23.8% (5-for-21) from the line.

Brooklyn will return to action on Wednesday, January 28th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Lehman College for a key CUNYAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm. BC defeated the Lightning, 91-72, back on December 12th and will look to sweep the season series as Brooklyn continues to remain in the hunt for home court advantage in the quarterfinals round for the upcoming CUNYAC Championships.
