STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball team earned a CUNY Athletic Conference victory over John Jay, 78-62, on Wednesday evening. The game was played at the College of Staten Island.

The Lightning (11-7, 6-3 CUNYAC) were led by junior forward Chaun Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y./Eleanor Roosevelt), who had a career-high 30 points and added nine rebounds. Senior guard Jonathan Greenfield (Hartford, Conn./Windsor) also set a career-high with 28 points, while grabbing 10 boards for a double-double. Junior guard Olando Minott (Bronx, N.Y./Samuel Gompers) had 15 points and seven rebounds.

In the latter stages of the first half, sophomore forward Astrit Krasniqi (New York, N.Y./St. Agnes Boys) forced a steal and fed the ball to Greenfield, who was able to dunk the ball on a fastbreak, and extend Lehman's lead to 27-19. The Bloodhounds (3-15, 2-7 CUNYAC) were able to respond by going on a 12-3 run in the last 2:39 of the half, capped off by a three-point shot from Kris Owens, with five seconds left, to lift the home team to a one-point lead at the half.

The Lightning would take over in the second half, outscoring the Bloodhounds, 48-31. Just eight seconds into the second stanza, Miller found Minott, who was able to lay the ball up and in, to help Lehman regain the lead, 32-31. From that point on, the Lightning would never trail again. With Lehman up 34-33, the Lightning would go on an 8-0 run in a span of 1:50, capped off by a layup from Miller, to extend Lehman's lead to 40-31, with 15:50 left to play.

John Jay went on a run of its own and decreased Lehman's lead to 51-48, with 7:00 left on the clock. The game was destined to go down to the wire, but the Lightning once again went on a run, scoring the next seven points, ending with a layup from freshman guard John Brens (Washington Heights, N.Y./All Hallows) to give Lehman a more comfortable 58-48 lead, with just over five minutes left.

John Jay would not go down without a fight, as they shrunk Lehman's lead to 58-53, with 4:18 remaining. Miller would not allow the game to get any closer as he scored the game's next five points, including a three-point basket, to put Lehman back up by double-digits, and put the game out of reach for the Bloodhounds. The Lightning ended up winning the game, 78-62.

For the game, Brens set a new career-high with 11 assists. His eight rebounds are also the most in his career.

The Lightning will return to the APEX Main Gym on Saturday, for a CUNYAC game against Medgar Evers, on Homecoming Day. The game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
