New York, N.Y. – Freshman Ammad Alkhulaidi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a career-high 22 points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer in overtime to send Mount Saint Vincent to an important 69-68 Skyline Conference win at Yeshiva on Thursday night. The win moves the Dolphins into a four way tie for first place in the league standings.

The Dolphins got off to a sluggish start on Thursday and found themselves trailing 31-11 after a Shaje Weiss tip-in that pushed the Maccabees in front by 20 points with just over three minutes left until halftime.

The Dolphins would build momentum heading into the intermission with a 12-1 run to close the half and pull to within nine points, at 32-23, after 20 minutes of play.

Despite shooting just 29.6-percent from the floor in the first half, the Mount was able to stay within reach of Yeshiva by outscoring the Maccabees 8-2 off of turnovers and 8-3 in bench scoring. Andrew Curiel (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Mount with six points at the break, while Shelby Rosenberg paced the Maccabees with 12 points after 20 minutes.

Benjy Ritholtz hit a three-pointer early in the second half to spread Yeshiva's lead back to double-figures and the Macs would maintain the advantage in the second half until Alkhulaidi canned a three-pointer with seven minutes left in regulation to tie the score at 45-45.

Yeshiva would jump back in front by three points on a Michael Berg conversion in the paint, before the Mount strung together a quick 9-3 spurt to pull in front 54-51 on a Matthew Sowah (Staten Island, N.Y.) three-point field goal with 2:40 left in the second half.

The two teams would go on to trade the lead on buckets from Weiss and Sowah in the final 1:38 of regulation before the Dolphins took a 58-56 lead on a Khalil Shorter (Staten Island, N.Y.) lay-in with 35 seconds remaining. Following a foul from the Dolphins, Ritholtz converted a pair of free-throws to knot the game at 58-58 and send it to overtime.

Yeshiva misfired on five free-throws in the second 20 minutes and saw the Dolphins knock down four three-point field goals. Alkhulaidi went 2-for-3 from behind the arc in the second half and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line on his way to 14 points in the second stanza.

The largest lead in the overtime period came at the 2:28 mark when Jamir Ferebee (Staten Island, N.Y.) knocked down a triple to push the Dolphins in front 64-61. Yeshiva scored the next five points after the Ferebee triple to move in front 66-64 with 21 seconds left in the extra frame.

Alkhulaidi tied the score at 66-66 with 11 seconds left, but saw the Dolphins fall behind by a pair of points following two Weiss free-throws with five seconds left.

Following the second conversion from the free-throw line, Alkhulaidi took a pass from Antonio Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) and buried his career-high third three-pointer of the game at the horn to give the Mount its second straight overtime victory.

The freshman forward rounded out the game 5-for-16 from the floor overall, 3-for-4 from behind the arc and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. He grabbed six rebounds and handed out a pair of assists to close out a strong all-around game.

Curiel and Sowah joined Alkhulaidi in double-figures with 10 and 13 points, respectively. Curiel rounded out the game with a team-high seven rebounds with Sowah going 2-for-2 from behind the arc and hauling in five boards.

Sophomore Jesse Regina (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the team with three assists and four steals in the game and Ferebee totaled eight points, four rebounds and a pair of steals for the Dolphins.

Mount Saint Vincent was held to 35.9-percent shooting overall in the game, but shot 47.1-percent (8-for-17) from bonus distance and 75-percent from the free-throw line. The Mount outscored the Maccabees 16-5 off of turnovers and 20-3 in bench scoring.

Ritholtz led four Yeshiva players in double-figures with 18 points with Rosenberg posting a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Jordon Hod led all players with seven assists.

With Thursday's victory, Mount Saint Vincent moves to 10-5 overall on the season and to 6-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look for their third straight win on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Sarah Lawrence. Tip-off with the Gryphons is set for 1:00 p.m.
