Spartan Men Win at Adrian, 67-60; 6-1 for First Time Since 2005

ADRIAN, Mich. – Senior forward Dane McLoughlin (Westerville, Ohio/St. Charles Preparatory) led three in double-figures with a game-high 18 points, and the Case Western Reserve University men's basketball team won by a score of 67-60 at Adrian College on Saturday evening at the Merillat Center.

CWRU improves to 6-1 for the first time since 2005, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-4.

McLoughlin also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

In addition, junior Matt Clark (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis University) totaled 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Junior point guard Jimmy Holman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) added 10 points and five assists.   

The Spartans shot a season-best .535 from the field and held a 28-6 advantage in bench scoring.

The Bulldogs were led by Ben Rodak with 16 points and Rickey Jackson with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Neither side built a lead of more than four in the first half, and Adrian led for the final time in the game at 15:00 of the second when Earl Swift hit a jumper to make the score 40-39. The Spartans then moved in front for good with an 11-1 run that culminated in a pair of Clark free throws with 10:18 left to play. CWRU's advantage reached as many as 12, at 62-50, when senior point guard Jordan Dean (St. Johns, Fla./Creekside) hit two free throws with 1:19 remaining.

The Spartans are now idle from competition until playing at Division I Bucknell University (Pa.) on Friday, December 19 at Sojka Pavilion.
