Montclair, NJ - Senior forward Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds as 11th-ranked Richard Stockton bounced back from a two-point loss on Monday with a two-point win on Wednesday as the Ospreys slipped past Montclair State, 59-57 at the Panzer Athletic Center on Wednesday evening.

Junior guard Armin Cane (Pleasantville, NJ / Pleasantville) had 14 points for the Ospreys (13-2, 7-1 NJAC), which played its third straight game decided by two points. Stockton defeated New Jersey City 58-56 last Saturday before falling to Ramapo on Monday, 65-63. The Ospreys also posted their second straight win over MSU and now lead the all-time series 43-29.

Senior guard James D'Angelo (Long Valley, NJ / West Morris Central) had 15 points, three rebounds and two assists for the Red Hawks (5-8, 2-6 NJAC).

A closely contested game in which neither team led by more than eight points, its was Richard Stockton building its large lead of the first half at seven points as a three-pointer by Cane with 4:17 left gave the Ospreys a 23-16 advantage. Anthony Woodward's (Atlantic City, NJ / Atlantic City) bakset with 1:43 to play made the score 27-20 however Montclair State got a jumper from Kevin McGorry (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) and layup by Jerome HIlton (Jersey City, NJ / Snyder) with :02 remaining as it trimmed the deficit to 27-24 at halftime.

D'Angelo tied the game in the early seconds of the final period however Richard Stockton went back in front by five points as Blamon hit from behind the arc making the score 35-30. Montclair State then went on a 14-2 run over the next four minutes taking a 44-39 advantage on D'Angelo's three-pointer with 10:43 to go. The Ospreys countered with a run of its own and tied the game at 48-48 on Blamon's three-point play with 7:03 left.

Omir Kendall (Williamstown, NJ / Williamstown) put Stockton in front for good and a layup by Darius Jerkins (Somers Point, NJ / Mainland) finished off a 15-4 spurt as the Ospreys led 52-48 with 6:01 to go.

The Red Hawks pulled within a point however two free throw by Blamon and three-point by Cane boosted the lead back to 57-51 iwth 3:26 to play. The lead was 57-52 with less than two minutes remaining when Shaun Russell (Brooklyn, NY / Willingboro) and Devyn Ransom (Jersey City, NJ Marist) each had layups bringing MSU to within 57-56 with 58 seconds left. Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro, NJ / Middle Township) made one free throw with :13 left however he committed a foul on the second giving Montclair a chance to tie. But MSU failed on the first attempt at the line and Cane was fouled with nine seconds. He would make one which allowed the Red Hawks one last opportunity.

After getting the ball across into the frontcourt and a pair of timeouts, Hilton got off a three-point with nine-tenths of a second left but was fouled putting him at the line with a chance to tie the game. But the free throw woes that plagued MSU throughout the game (11-of-21), did the Red Hawks in one more time as Hilton missed the first attempt. He made the second and then intentionally missed the third hoping for a last minute tip-in. That did happend as Blamon grabbed the rebound to seal the win for the Ospreys.

Harmon had eight points for Richard Stockton, which took advantage of its 17 offensive rebounds in the game turning them into 21 points.

Russell had nine points and six rebounds for MSU while McGorry chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, January 17 as it travels to New Jersey City University for a 4:00 pm matchup with the Gothic Knnights. Richard Stockton hosts Kean on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
