Millikin Men Lose to North Central

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost to #10 North Central College 62-46 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois on January 7.  Millikin falls to 6-7, 1-1 while North Central improves to 12-1, 2-0.

          The first 11 minutes of the game were tight with the game tied at 13-13 with 8:56 remaining in the half.  The Cardinals then went on a roll with a 16-5 run to build a 29-18 advantage at halftime.  Millikin kept the game close in the second half, but could never get closer than seven points.

          North Central shot 50 percent from the field while holding Millikin to just 31 percent.  Neither team had much luck from three point range with Millikin going 0-11 and the Cardinals hitting on only 2-11.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 31-30.

          Millikin's top scorer was TJ Griffin with 12 points and three assists.  Griffin was held to just two field goals, but connected on 8-12 from the free throw line.  Nathan Biggs had 10 points.  Zach Long had a team high eight rebounds and six points. Tommy Pilackas had seven rebounds.

          The story of the game for the Cardinals was the play of Charles Rosenberg.  Rosenberg dominated the first half scoring 21 points on eight of 10 shooting.  He also had seven rebounds and two steals.  Rosenberg finished the night with a game high 26 points and a team high eight rebounds.  Jack Burchett added 13 points and six rebounds and Jayme Molten had 12 points and six rebounds.

          Millikin was without two starters Parker Day and Bryn Agnew with both players sidelined with injuries.

          Millikin will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 10 hosting Elmhurst College at 7 p.m.
