Brooklyn, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Lehman College Lightning 81-79 earlier tonight. The Lightning improve to 5-2, 2-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 1-5, 0-2 CUNYAC. 

This game featured 11 ties. For the first nine minutes, both teams would trade baskets, with no team leading greater than five points. With the Cougars trailing 34-29 with 5:53 left in the 1st half, the Cougars would go a 9-1 run, and take a 38-36 lead, with 4:13 left in the 1st half. They would lead for the remaining time, and go up by 10pts, twice in the half. In the 2nd half, the Cougars would lead for nearly 13 minutes of the frame. With a 10pt lead, the Lightning chipped away at the lead, before taking the lead 70-68, with seven minutes left in the game. Lehman and MEC would make shot for shot, with the Lightning lead no more than 4pts (72-68). The Cougars would chip at the lead, and after a 9-4 run, which took up five minutes, they regained the lead (77-76). The last 56 seconds, featured the lead change four times. With 27 seconds left, Junior Guard Mark Hudson would make a pair of free throws, giving Medgar Evers College a 79-78 lead. After Lehman called a 30 second timeout, Chaun Miller would nail a 3pt. shot, giving the Lightning the 81-79 lead, with eight seconds left. Matt Walker would try a 3pt. shot, but missed the mark, that was the game.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Senior Forward and Co-Captain Valin Williams with a game high 21pts (9-12 FG-FGA and 3-4 FT-FTA). Valin grabbed 12 rebounds, which marked high second double-double of the season.The Brooklyn native dished out an assist, swiped away three shots, and added two steals. Junior Guard and Co-Captain Pablo Segura scored 19pts (5-11 FG-FGA, 3-4 3pt. FG-FGA, and 6-6 FT-FTA). Pablo grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, and added a steal. Junior Guard Matt Walker scored 14pts (5-13 FG-FGA, 0-3 3pt. FG-FGA, and 4-5 FT-FTA). Matt grabbed five rebounds, dished out a team high four assists, and added two steals.     

Lehman was led by John Brens and Chaun Miller, each with 18pts. Three other student-athletes scored in double-figures including the following: Jerrome Jones (12pts), Jonathan Greenfield (11pts), and Driton Hasangjekaj (10pts).

The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday December. 7, 2014, when they travel to Mahwah, New Jersey, and play the Ramapo College Roadrunners. Game time will be 2:00pm.
