Balanced Scoring Leads Rose-Hulman Men Past Millikin

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures to earn its second straight victory, topping Millikin University 69-60 in men's basketball action on Wednesday night.

Junior Jimmy Miller, senior Corey Povaleri and sophomore Collin Wojcik led the balanced attack with 13 points each.  Junior Tyler Duffy also reached double figures with 11 points for the Fightin' Engineers.

The team attack overcame a 29-point performance from Millikin junior TJ Griffin as Rose-Hulman improves to 3-4 on the season.

Miller finished 5-8 from the field with six rebounds, Wojcik was 4-8 from the field and 4-4 on the foul line, and Povaleri hit 8-14 free throws to provide much of the Rose-Hulman offense.

Millikin held a 33-32 halftime lead after a tightly contested first half, and the Big Blue pushed its lead to five points at 44-39 with 15:38 left on a score by Griffin.  Rose-Hulman answered with a 14-4 run to gain a 53-48 lead with 10:38 left on five straight points from Miller.

Millikin rallied to within three points at 59-56 on a layup by Bryn Agnew with 2:27 remaining, before the Fightin' Engineers answered with layups by Duffy and Wade Stallings along with two free throws by Povaleri to gain a 65-56 lead and secure the victory.

Rose-Hulman improved to 3-4 on the year, while Millikin dropped to 4-5.  The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Saturday with a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest at Manchester.
