ALFRED, NY—The Alfred University men's basketball team rebounded from their loss vs. Hilbert College with an, 80-69, victory over SUNY Fredonia Tuesday evening in the newly dedicated Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

It was a whole team effort to get the Saxons back on the winning track with 11 Saxons scoring on the night.  Jerry Kincel (Moosic, PA/Riverside) led the Saxons with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) was also strong for the Saxons adding 13 points.

The first half was a whirlwind, with both teams playing with urgency, but neither could get a grasp on the lead.  In the last five minutes, there were three lead changes and five ties, but the Saxons were able to take the advantage into the second half.  Seelman broke the deadlock with two free-throws with :39 seconds to go.  Seelman would end the night 4-4 from the charity stripe.

In the opening minutes Fredonia was able to muster enough momentum to grab the lead by one, but the Saxons quickly toppled the small margin and never looked back.  Throughout the remainder of the game the Saxons took a 17 point lead with 10:18 to go in the half.  The Blue Devils looked to make a surge to bring the game within reach, but the Saxon defense was too much.  The Saxons closed out the game with an 80-69 victory.

Tim Pacheco (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) led the distribution of the ball for AU with five assists to go along with his nine points.  Ryan Mahon (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) was also unselfish with the ball notching four assists and nine points.

With the win the Saxons move to 4-1 (E8, 0-0) on the season, and look to continue their good fortune when they travel to Washington, D.C. for the Gallaudet Holiday Tournament where they will take on Valley Forge Christian College in the first round.
