Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team eclipsed the 90-point plateau for a third straight game on Tuesday night in BC's City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and 2014-2015 home opener, as the Bulldogs rolled past the Beavers of The City College of New York (CCNY) with a 96-70 win at the West Quad Center.

With the win, Brooklyn extends its winning streak to five straight to move to 5-1 overall on the year and 1-0 in the CUNYAC. CCNY drops to 3-2 overall on the young season and 0-1 in conference play.

The West Quad Center home crowd got its first look of the 2014-2015 Bulldogs and the home team did not disappoint, as Brooklyn shot 69.0% (20-for-29) in the first half en route to securing a 15-point, 51-36, halftime advantage.

The first half saw four ties and five lead changes as the teams exchanged baskets early on. Following a jumper from Anthon Lewis that regained the lead for the Beavers, 13-12, at the 14:21 mark, the Bulldogs would rattle off eight straight points to take a seven-point lead, 20-13, at the 11:56 mark. BC would never relinquish its lead again and the home team would eventually push its lead to double figures and its 15-point intermission cushion.

Leading Brooklyn's opening half scoring surge was senior Valon Djombalic, who scored all of his 14 points on the night in the first half. Junior Lorenzo Williams scored 13 of his team-leading 19 points in the first half, while classmate Jamel Gist netted 12 of his 14 points in the first half.

Gjonbalaj carried the offensive load for Brooklyn in the second half scoring all of his 18 points in the second period, shooting 6-for-10 from the field, including going 3-for-4 from three and 3-for-6 from the line. Junior Dillon Williams also did all his damage in the second half, scoring all 10 of his points in the second stanza. Gjonbalaj and Williams played a vital role in ballooning BC's lead to as high as 37, 89-52, with 7:12 left on the clock; as the Bulldogs would go on to cruise to its 26-point victory, 96-70.

Senior Steven Diaz finished the game with 11 points, as Brooklyn had six players in double figure scoring, including all five starters. Junior Nicholas Grasso pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, while classmate Dennis Balsam made his presence felt on the defensive end of the court with five blocks.

CCNY's Anthony Lewis led all scorers with 24 points, while Khalil Hamer added 17 points.

For the game, Brooklyn shot 56.9% (37-for-65) from the field, including 44.4% (8-for-18) from three. The Bulldogs struggled from the charity stripe, going 14-for-26 (53.8%) from the line.

The Beavers were held to just 34.6% (27-for-78) shooting from field and 28.6% (4-for-14) from beyond the arc. CCNY went a perfect 12-for-12 (100.0%) from the line.
