Big Blue Men’s Basketball Battles Past Principia

          The Millikin men's basketball team defeated Principia College 76-63 on November 25 in the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.

          Millikin used pressure defense to fuel a second half comeback as the Big Blue survived a poor shooting night.  The Panthers led 32-29 at halftime with Millikin shooting 24 percent from the field in the first half.  Millikin hit on 45.5 percent in the second half to outscore the Panthers by 16 in the half.  Millikin shot 34 percent from the field on the game while Principia shot 40 percent.  Millikin took 19 more shots from the field thanks in part to a 50-34 rebounding edge and 26 forced Principia turnovers. 

          Freshman Zach Long led the Big Blue with 16 points and nine rebounds.  Freshman TJ Sims had 14 points and three assists and fellow freshman Nick Novak added 13 points.  Bryn Agnew had nine rebounds and seven points.  TJ Griffin had nine points, seven rebounds and three steals.  Parker Day had a team high four steals.

          Larry Patterson had 18 points to lead the Panthers while Parker Davidson added 16 points and a team high 10 rebounds.

          Millikin is now 3-2 on the season while Principia goes to 1-3.

          Millikin will be back in action on Dec. 4 when they host Robert Morris-Peoria at 8 p.m.
