Hartford, Conn. – Junior guard Jaquann Starks (Hartford, Conn.) scored a game-high 20 points, sinking seven of eight shots from the field and all four of his attempts from long range, with four rebounds, three assists, and a blocked shot to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 59-46 victory over the visiting Framingham State University Rams in men's basketball action this evening on Stan Ogrodnik Court in Ray Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 3-2 with its first home-opening win since 2009-10, while the Rams drop to 3-2. 

Trailing, 27-23, at the half, after Framingham State closed out the first frame with a 9-0 run, Trinity came out of the break with a 14-0 spurt, holding the Rams without a field goal until the 10:50 mark of the second stanza.  Starks had 11 points in the first half and added six of the 14 during the Bantam run.  The Bantams led, 41-29, at the 12:03 mark, after a layup by junior guard Andrew Hurd (Windsor, Conn.), but Framingham State scored the next seven points to cut the Bantam advantage to five at 41-36 with just under nine minutes left on a three-pointer by junior guard Joe McCabe (Canton, Mass.).   The Bantams went back ahead by double digits, 50-40, on a Starks three-pointer with 5:02 on the clock, and maintained at least an eight-point cushion the rest of the way.

Trinity outscored the Rams, 36-19, in the second half and outrebounded them, 14-8, after halftime.  The teams combined for 38 turnovers, including 11 each in the first half, while Framingham State missed eight of 21 free throws and Trinity missed of its 20 attempts from the foul line.  Trinity junior forward Shay Ajayi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored nine of his 11 points in the second half and added five rebounds, three steals, and a block, senior forward Alex Conaway (New Haven, Conn.) contributed 10 points, seven boards, and a block off the bench, and sophomore forward Ed Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.  Framingham State sophomore guard Patrick Gould (Quincy, Mass.) had 14 points, making eight of his nine attempts from the charity stripe, and Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, Mass.) notched seven points, a team-high six rebounds, and three steals off the Rams' bench.
