BOSTON, Mass. – Head coach Charlie Titus announced today that Tyler Papadinis has been promoted to associate head coach, after six seasons with the men's basketball program.  The promotion is effective immediately, as the Beacons prepare for the 2014–15 season.

During his first six seasons with UMass Boston, Papadinis served as Titus' first assistant and one of the main recruiters for the program.  While in Boston, the Connecticut native has worked tirelessly on bringing in some of the top talent from all over the country.

Two seasons ago, he helped to recruit the program's first D3Hoops.com Northeast Region Rookie of the Year.  He also played a major part in the development of two-time All-Little East Conference selection and D3Hoops.com All-Region honoree Carl Joseph.

"Tyler has worked hard to prepare himself for this opportunity.  He has made great contributions over the past six years, and he is an integral part of the UMass Boston basketball program. Witnessing coach Paps' growth over the last six years has been enjoyable," said Titus.

"I am honored and grateful for the promotion and am thrilled to continue coaching at UMass Boston.  I'm indebted to Coach Titus for the opportunity he gave me six years ago, and I look forward to another season of teaching, learning, and growing," said Papadinis.

In addition to his recruiting responsibilities, Papadinis is also involved in the day-to-day operations of the men's basketball program.  He has been tasked with the scheduling of practices and game-day preparations.

He is also spent countless hours working at high school, college, and developmental camps all over the United States.

Prior to his arrival on the UMass Boston campus, Papadinis gained coaching experience working at Division I Cornell University and Division III powerhouse Ithaca College.  He also served as an intern for the NBA's New York Knicks Basketball Operations office.  While with the Knickerbockers, he worked directly with players, coaches, and staff members.

A 2007 graduate of Ithaca College, Papadinis received his MBA from UMass Boston in 2012.
