PELLA—Central College men's basketball forward Matt Greenfield (senior, Huxley, Ballard HS) has been named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region first team, while frontcourt mate Colby Taylor (freshman, Creston) has been named rookie of the year in the region.

Greenfield, the 2014 Iowa Conference MVP, averaged 18.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while starting all 29 games this season, leading Central in its deepest NCAA tournament run since 1991. The Dutch upset No. 25-ranked St. Olaf (Minn.) in the first round before being edged by top-ranked, top-seeded Wis.-Stevens Point in the round of 32 on its home court.

Greenfield tallied 15 double-doubles this season, finishing with 19 for his career. He posted career highs with 35 points at Buena Vista Jan. 25 and 17 rebounds at Sacred Heart (P.R.) Dec. 29. Twice this season, Greenfield was one of three Dutch players to score 25-plus points in a single game, the first such occurrence in more than a decade.

Greenfield's 547 points scored this season rank fourth in program history all-time, while his 292 boards rank second. His 36 blocked shots are ninth as well. Greenfield joined Central's 1,000-point club as its 27th member in the conference tournament championship game, finishing his career with 1,043 points, tying for 21st. He is also seventh with 622 career rebounds.

Augsburg's (Minn.) center Dan Kornbaum joined Greenfield in the All-West Region first-team frontcourt, while Wis.-Steven Points' guards Tyler Tillema and Trevor Hass and Whitworth's (Wash.) guard Dustin McConnell made up the backcourt. Luther's John Androus was the only other Iowa Conference selection, a second-team honoree.

Taylor averaged 9.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while playing in all 29 games. He posted career highs with 24 points and 12 rebounds in Central's league-title-clinching 81-78 overtime win at Luther Feb. 19, one of three double-doubles this season.

Taylor made it a habit of filling the stat sheet, finishing the season as the second-leading rebounder, second in steals (21), fourth-leading scorer and fifth in assists (41) and blocked shots (12). He was one of the three Dutch players to score 25-plus points in a single game once. Taylor's late-game heroics jumpstarted Central's nine-game winning streak, as his steal set up guard Kevin Kaerwer's (senior, El Paso, Texas, John L. Chapin HS)game-winning 3-pointer in the 84-83 overtime win against Simpson Jan. 22.

Tillema joined Taylor on the special awards stand as the All-West Region player of the year, while St. Olaf's Dan Kosmoski was named coach of the year.
