BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Penn State Altoona freshman forward Evan Greening (Stafford, VA/Stafford) garnered a high profile postseason recognition on Monday when he was announced as the D3Hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Rookie of the Year.Greening becomes the first player in Penn State Altoona men's basketball history to win the All-Region Rookie of the Year award. His most recent recognition comes on the heels of being named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Newcomer of the Year and earning Second Team All-AMCC status. Greening is the only player from the AMCC to be named to an All-Region team in men's basketball this year.Greening's freshman campaign was statistically one of the best seasons of any player in Lions basketball history. He established new school single season records in points per game (19.4), total rebounds (255), rebounds per game (10.6), and field goal percentage (57.6%).In the AMCC, Greening ranked second in points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage. He finished his season second among all NCAA Division III men's basketball players in offensive rebounds per game, grabbing 5.21 per contest.Greening played in 24 of 25 games for Penn State Altoona in the 2013-2014 season, making 23 starts and averaging 31.4 minutes per game. During the season, he won two AMCC Player of the Week awards and one Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Region Player of the Week recognition.
