Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's sixth-seeded men's basketball team fell 95-80 to third-seed St. Mary's (Md.) in the First Round of the 2014 Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday night.   The Saints drop to 15-11 on the season.

JC Hoellich led the Saints with 18 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double while Reed Scott added 12 points.

St. Mary's (18-7) opened the game on a 5-0 run before the Saints responded with an 8-2 outburst to take their first lead up 8-7 at the 15:56 mark.  That sequence set the back-and-forth tone for the first half as Marymount put together a 9-1 run, capped by a Danny Ferry three-pointer, to take a 20-12 lead with 12:04 to play.  The Seahawks would slowly chip away at the MU lead and rally behind a 17-4 run to take a 40-35 lead late in the frame.  Antonio Rouse then hit a huge three-pointer as time expired to cut the deficit to just 40-38 going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Saints kicked things off with an 11-4 run to take a 49-44 lead 3:29 into the period.  St. Mary's answered back with a 14-2 run over the next four minutes to lead 58-51.  The Seahawks took control from there, not allowing the Saints to make up much ground while expanding its lead to double-figures and eventually 20 points late in the frame.

Troy Spurrier and Nick LaGuerre led the Seahawks with 21 points each.
