MADISON (NJ) – Jay Donovan hit seven 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as Delaware Valley College remained in a tie for first place in the Freedom Conference with a 73-57 victory at FDU-Florham.

The Aggies (10-8 overall with the win) and FDU-Florham (9-9 overall) were two of four teams – DeSales University and Misericordia University the others – tied for the top spot in the standings with 4-2 league marks heading into Wednesday's action. At the end of the evening, Delaware Valley and Misericordia (an overtime winner at King's College) still stood in first as conference action reached the halfway point.

Donovan was 8-for-12 from the field, including a 7-for-10 effort from beyond the arc. It marked the fourth time this season that the junior hit five or more bombs and he went over the 20-point plateau each time (eight 3's and 30 points at New Paltz, seven 3's and 28 points against Ramapo, and five 3's and 22 points at Penn State Berks).

Five of Donovan's 3-pointers and 17 of his points came in the first half as Delaware Valley shot 51.6 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from 3-point land, en route to a 41-28 advantage, After an early FDU-Florham lead, the Aggies took command with a 10-2 run, including two treys from Donovan, midway through the stanza. Later in the half, a layup by Francis Arnold and a 3-pointer form Nick Sullivan boosted the lead to 13. The Devils got the next three points before Donovan ended the half with a 3-pointer.

FDU-Florham notched the first five points of the second stanza to make it an eight-point contest. However, that was the last time its deficit was single digits as Delaware Valley responded with seven straight thanks to back-to-back buckets from Chris Moran and Donovan's sixth trey of the night.

The Aggies, who led by as many as 21 in the game, finished the game shooting 48.2 percent from the field, including a 9-for-20 effot from 3-point land. Meanwhile, they defensive pressure allowed just five 3-pointers by the Devils and they also held a 40-35 advantage on the boards.

Moran had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. The sophomore also blocked four shots. Sullivan, Nate Brown and Zach Sly had eight points apiece. Arnold, the team's leading scorer, had six points in 12 minutes after missing the last two games with an injury.

Will Green notched 14 points and eight rebounds for FDU-Florham. John Fete poured in 13 points while Trevor Sykes added 11 points and nine boards.

Delaware Valley will start the second half of conference play on Saturday, February 1 when the defending champions hosts Wilkes University
