JAMAICA, N.Y. – After trailing by only three after a back-and-forth first half, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with a hot-shooting York College team, dropping an 86-67 decision on the road on Friday night.

The Bears (9-8) had their two-game winning streak snapped and were led by juniorDavid Louison (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) who recorded his eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 28 points and secured 11 caroms. Sophomore Matt O'Neill (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) added 16 points, draining four three-pointers and sophomore Michael Megafu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) fell one point shy of extending his double-double streak to nine games, grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds.

York (12-6) placed four in double figures to win their ninth out of their last ten games. The Cardinals were led by Michael Woods with 23 points and received 20 points off the bench from Omar St. John.

The Bears overcame an early eight-point deficit and the teams traded the lead eight times along with four ties in the opening half, the Cardinals taking a 31-28 lead at the intermission after a late three-pointer from Michael Woods.

St. Joseph's got off to a slow start out of the break, York scoring the first six points of the new period and the Bears never fully recovered. After falling behind by 15 points, the Bears scored nine unanswered – with six straight points from Louison – to cut the deficit to six, 50-44, but the Cardinals squashed any hope for a comeback with a 10-3 run that put the Bears at a double-digit deficit for the remainder of the game.

TURNING POINT

After the Bears whittled a 15-point deficit to six, York connected on 10 straight field goal attempts over the next five minutes where they outscored St. Joseph's, 25-12.

• The Bears shot 50 percent (16-32) in the second stanza, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Cardinals who shot 62.5 percent (20-32) and finished the game connecting at a 54.2 percent clip (32-59).
• York utilized a deep bench that contributed 39 points who outscored the Bears reserves' 11 points.
• St. Joseph's won the rebounding battle 38-29 and converted 17 offensive boards into 16 second-chance points. Megafu alone grabbed nine rebounds on the offensive end.

• Megafu's eight-game double-double streak is tied for the third longest in the nation this year. Through games played yesterday, Megafu's 11 double-doubles were ranked fourth in the nation and three off the lead.
• The Bears remain winless in the all-time series, 0-3. Both squads have met in each of the last three seasons.
• O'Neill's 16 points were two off his season best and he improves his average to double digits at 10.2 points per outing.
