Dylan Sinnickson netted a three-pointer with three seconds left to lift Middlebury to a 64-61 victory at Connecticut College on Sunday. Sinnickson finished with a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers, shooting 7-14 from the field and 4-8 from long-distance. The Panthers improved their record to 10-5 with a 3-1 record in the NESCAC, while the Camels fell to 7-7 with a 1-2 conference record.
Joey Kizel chipped in with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for the visitors. Matt St. Amour scored eight points in 19 minutes of action off of the bench.
Connecticut College's Mason Lopez scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 5-10 from three-point distance and a perfect 6-6 at the charity stripe. Zuri Pavlin contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds en route to a double-double. Kevin Myricks was 4-5 from the field en route to his eight point output for the hosts.
Lopez sparked the Camels on a 10-0 run to start the game, dialing up two threes to go with a third field goal. Later on in the half, Rob Harrigan buried another triple for the Camels with 6:06 remaining to push the lead to 31-17.
But the Panthers clawed back with a 10-2 run of their own to pull within six. Sinnickson netted a trey with 1:02 remaining to make it a 33-27 game.
However, Myricks closed out the half with a hoop for the Camels with 39 seconds left and the hosts held a 35-27 advantage at the break.
The Camels took a 50-43 lead when Pavlin elevated for a dunk with 9:51 remaining in regulation. The lead swelled to nine when Lopez knocked down a pair of free throws with 8:28 to play.
The Panthers would not go away and the visitors tied the game at 61-61 with 1:42 remaining when Kizel threw a baseball pass the length of the court to James Jensen for a hoop in transition.
In the closing moments, Middlebury held the ball for the last possession with Kizel and Sinnickson positioned up top. Sinnickson was able to bury the three-ball for the visitors with three seconds left to lift the Panthers to the win.
Both teams shot well from the foul line. Middlebury was 15-17 while the Camels converted 8-9 shots from the charity stripe.
