JERSEY CITY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.comNew Jersey City University junior shooting guard JAMALL MCDANIEL (Jersey City, NJ/Lincoln) hit a go-ahead three from the corner with 15.5 seconds remaining, then had a key defensive rebound and foul shot with 1.6 seconds left as NJCU survived a bizarre ending to defeat Ramapo College , 61-60, in New Jersey Athletic Conference men's basketball on January 22 at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (Coach Charlie Brown Court).

NJCU led 61-59 before Ramapo grabbed the defensive rebound of McDaniel's second free throw attempt and called timeout with 1.4 seconds left. Before Ramapo could attempt a half-court shot at the buzzer, NJCU made a key defensive error, fouling Ramapo senior guard Jermaine Emanuel (Englewood, NJ/Laney) with 0.4 showing. With a chance to tie the game, Emanuel, 6-of-7 from the line to that point, made the first, but the second was short and to the left with the rebound sailing out of play.

The win is key for NJCU, which improved to 9-7 overall and 5-5 in the NJAC and swept a season series from Ramapo (7-10, 4-6 NJAC), the defending NJAC champions, for the first time since the 2006-07 regular season.
