JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College extended its winning streak to 11-straight games with a 76-53 win over Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game at Bruner Center.

The Green Knights (13-1, 9-0 MWC) now hold a three-game lead on the rest of the Midwest Conference after Lawrence University's win over Grinnell College. The Blueboys dropped to 8-6, 4-5.

St. Norbert broke the game open midway through the first half. The Green Knights held a 16-12 lead with 12:47 left before halftime before going on a 16-0 run over the next 6:06. Brandon Gries opened the run with a basket and a 3-pointer, followed by a pair of Andrew Schwoerer baskets. Kam Cerroni then connected on one of his four 3-pointers in the game for a 28-12 edge. Schwoerer hit another jumper and Cerroni two free throws for a 32-12 lead with 6:41 to go before the break.

The Green Knights, who led 46-27 at halftime, opened the second half on a 9-2 run to effective salt away the game. Garrett Thorn hit a layup to open the half, followed by another Gries 3-pointers. After a Blueboys basket, Andy Fox and Gries hit a pair of baskets to take a 55-26 lead with 17:43 to go.

Gries led St. Norbert with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Schwoerer came off the bench to add 17 points, while Cerroni canned 14 points. The Green Knights outrebounded the Blueboys 40-23. St. Norbert shot 55.6 percent from the field, making 30 of 54 field-goal attempts.

Zeke Light led Illinois College with 18 points, while Justin Smith added 12 points. The Blueboys shot 37.7 percent from the floor, making 20 of 53 field-goal attempts.
