Millikin Men Lose to #4 Titans

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost to #4 Illinois Wesleyan 75-57 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill. on Jan. 15.

          The Big Blue started strong on a 10-4 run and held the advantage for the first 10 minutes of the half.  The Titans fought back went ahead for most of the remainder of the first half building a 35-27 lead at intermission.

          The second half was all Titans as Illinois Wesleyan found its shooting touch hitting on 50 percent of its shots while the Big Blue had trouble converting on the offense end hitting only 32 percent of its shots.

          For the game Illinois Wesleyan hit on 43 percent from the field, but struggled from beyond the three point arc hitting only 29 percent (7-24).  Millikin shot 35 percent on the game and was also cold from three point range hitting only 4-18 (22 percent).  The Titans hit 26-32 from the free throw line while Millikin struggled at the line hitting 29 percent (5-17).  Illinois Wesleyan out rebounded Millikin 45-32.

          Deavis Johnson lead Millikin with a double double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.  Tives Gardner had 11 and Millikin's leading scorer on the season TJ Griffin was held to 10 points.

          Illinois Wesleyan's top scorer was Pat Sodemann with 15 points.  Michael Mayberger and Nick Anderson each had 10.  Andrew Ziemnik had a team high 11 rebounds along with nine points.

          Illinois Wesleyan goes to 13-2, 4-0 while Millikin falls to 7-8, 1-3.

          Millikin will host Carthage College on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
