Husson Tops Terriers in NAC Opener

The Eagles stormed out to a quick 10-0 lead, and never gave up the lead The Terriers clawed back however in the early minutes, making it 10-6, but that was the closest they would come. Both teams were very aggressive in attacking the basket, combining for 17 total fouls. Husson shot 49% from the field, including 33% from beyond the arc in the first half, while the Terriers shot 45% from the floor, but could only muster one three-pointer on six attempts in the opening stanza.

The Eagles closed out the half with a big buzzer beating three-pointer by Mike Gonzales to give Husson the momentum heading into the locker room, and expanded their lead to double digits at 46-35. Brooks Spaulding had a big half for the Eagles, tallying 12 points on 4-5 shooting from the floor to go along with a perfect 4-4 from the line. Eric Westbrooks led the way for Thomas, with 10 points at the break, shooting a perfect 4-4 and hitting both his free throw attempts.

The Eagles began to slowly pull away in the second half, and Thomas was forced to use two quick timeouts almost on back to back possessions.

Thomas struggled to find the open looks for the rest of the game, and the Eagles pulled away late, leading by as much as 30 points.

For the Eagles, Spaulding led the way with a game-high 23 points, and tallied 6 rebounds..

For the Terriers, Westbrooks led the team with 16 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Levi Barnes and Garen Manzo each added 13 points respectfully.
