All 10 Saints Score in 71-65 Win Over Geneva

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - All 10 Saints scored tonight (Wednesday, January 8, 2014) as the Thomas More College men's basketball team defeated Geneva College, 71-65, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 4-9 overall and 3-1 in the PAC. With the loss, the Golden Tornadoes fall to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the PAC.

Geneva took an early 21-14 lead when Trevor York made two free-throws with 8:16 to play in the first half. Thomas More answered with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 21-20 with 6:57 to play in the half when senior forward Brandon Housley (Covington, Ky./Holmes) made one-of-two free-throws. The Golden Tornadoes came right back with a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 28-20 on a Zack Hayward lay-up with 3:58 to play in the opening half. The Saints responded with a 12-0 run capped by two free-throws by senior guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) to build a 32-28 lead with 34-seconds to play in the first half. Geneva scored the final four points of the half and tied the game at 32-32 at halftime when Jordan Baum made a jumper at the buzzer.

Thomas More opened the second half on a 15-12 run to take a 47-44 lead with 13:05 to play in the game when junior forward Chris Richard (Louisville, Ky./Southern) converted an old fashion three-point play. The Golden Tornadoes put together an 11-6 run capped by a Jacob Grim lay-up with 5:35 to play in the game to take a 55-53 lead. That was the last lead of the game for Geneva as Thomas More closed out the game on an 18-10 run capped by two free-throws by junior forward Jalen Clark (Frankfort, Ky./Western Hills) with one-second to play in the game for the 71-65 victory.

Housley led the team in scoring with a game-high-tying 14 points. Joining him in double-figure scoring was Hayes with 13 points, junior guard/forward Drew Mumford (Louisville, Ky./Christian Academy) with 11 and Clark with 10. Senior forward Josef Marshall (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) led the team on the boards with six rebounds, while Hayes, Mumford and Marshall led the team in assists with four each.

The Saints return to action on Saturday (January 11) when they host Thiel College at 3 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
