Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team kicked off the New Year on a high note, defeating visiting Lynchburg 102-89 in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon.  The Saints improve to 8-2 overall on the season before heading into the bulk of Capital Athletic Conference play this weekend.

The Saints' 100 point outburst is the second time they've achieved that feat this season and the 28th game in program history in which the Blue and White has eclipsed the century mark.

Four Saints scored in double-figures led by Jesse Konadu with a game-high 25 points.  Antonio Rouse chipped in 22, Reed Scott had 16 and Michael Anderson added 11 in the win.

JC Hoellich scored seven points to go with seven rebounds and five blocked shots.  Scott paced the Saints on the boards with eight rebounds while Colin Burkhart dished out six assists with Rouse and Anderson adding four each.

Marymount jumped to an early 7-0 lead in the game and never trailed. The Saints would lead 13-2 for their first double-figure lead of the game before the Hornets rallied to pull within one at 13-12.  A three-pointer by Scott on the next possession turned momentum back in MU's favor as it quickly regained its double-digit advantage en route a 46-36 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Marymount would push its lead to as many as 20 in the frame with just over nine minutes to play.  Lynchburg battled back, but couldn't overcome the deficit and never pulled within less than three possessions of tying the game the rest of the way.

Marymount took advantage of 24 Lynchburg (8-3) turnovers that it transitioned into 30 points for the home team.  The Saints also posted an impressive 10 points on fast breaks.

Austen Arnold led the Hornets with 22 points.

Marymount returns to the hardwood on Saturday as it travels to face defending CAC Champions St. Mary's (Md.) at 4 p.m. in St. Mary's City, Md.
