RICHMOND, Ind. – The Albion College men's basketball players were determined to take positive momentum into a week-long holiday break. The Britons shot 66 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range in the first half as it coasted to a 116-63 victory over Earlham College in non-league action.

The Britons, who don't play again until they meet Defiance College in the first round of the Purple & Gold Financial Tournament Dec. 29, improved to 6-3.

Ryan Watson scored five points in the first 2:15 of the game as Albion set the tone for the night by surging to a 10-0 lead. Vince Hill tacked on a layup as Albion led 12-0.

Jordan Herron produced a pair of layups, Zach Hurth knocked down a 3-point shot, and Carter Elliott tacked on a layup during a 9-0 run as Albion extended the margin to 40-20 midway through the first half.

Albion led by as many as 27 in the first half and it held a 61-35 lead at halftime.

Watson buried a pair of 3-point shots and a free throw, Herron added a pair of layups, and Hurth tacked on a pair of free throws as Albion continued to pour it on by scoring the first 11 points of the second half.

Albion, which scored more than 100 points in a game for the first time since Feb. 8, 2005, led by as many as 60.

The Britons shot 60 percent (45-of-75) for the game, its second-best effort of the season. Six scored in double figured led by Hurth, Travell Oakes, Lawrence Ridgell and Watson with 14 points apiece. Herron finished with 12, and Elliott came up a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
