Slow start does in Macalester

Visiting North Central shot 62% in the opening half, compared to 27% for the Scots, and went on to topple the Scots 70-59 in a non-conference game in St. Paul.  Macalester out-scored NCU 40-36 in the second half, but could not close the gap enough to mount a comeback.

 

Dylan Kilgour (So., La Crescenta, Calif. / Crescenta Valley) pumped in 17 and handed out four assists for Macalester.  Kareem Ismail (Fy., Pasadena, Calif. / Flintridge Prep) contributed 14 points, while Sager Moritzky (Fy., San Juan Capistrano, Calif. / St. Margaret's Episcopal) registered a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 assists.  Griffin Glatt (So., Summit, N.J. / Newark Academy) was Mac's rebounding leader and finished with six boards.

 

The Rams were paced by Bruce Burkman with 17 points.  Jordan Harrell added 16 points, while Luke Chafin had 12 points and seven boards.  Juice Washington had eight points, nine rebounds and three of his team's nine blocked shots.

 

Macalester led 15-8 in points off turnovers and 10-6 in second chance points, but NCU enjoyed a 30-22 margin in points in the paint.  The Rams owned a 19-11 turnover margin.

 

The Scots are off until a Jan. 2 MIAC game at St. Mary's.
