RICHMOND, IND. – The underclassman guard duo of Blake Brouwer (Elkhart, Ind.) and sophomore Brady Dolezal (Tipton, Ind.) guided Manchester University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday, Dec. 7.

Brouwer, topping the Spartans' scoring chart for the third time in the last four games, tallied 15 points due to five made three-pointers. Dolezal added 14 as part of an impressive double-double with 11 rebounds.

MU (1-7 overall, 0-2 HCAC) jumped out quickly inside EC's Trueblood Fieldhouse/Athletics and Fitness Center, leading 19-4 less than eight minutes in. Earlham (2-5, 1-1) chipped away and closed to within one at halftime (30-29). They took the lead early in the second frame, as the two sides traded the lead in the opening seven minutes.

An 8-0 run by the Quakers from 15:32 to 10:54 gave them the lead for good. A late flurry brought the Spartans to within one (54-53), but four consecutive made free throws and a key blocked shot in the final 22 seconds lifted the hosts to the 58-53 decision.

Manchester University returns to action Monday, Dec. 9. The Black and Gold face off against in-state NCAA Division I opponent Butler University at Hinkel Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tip-off is 8:02 p.m.
