CHICAGO – Albion nearly overcame a 10-point deficit with less than four minutes to play Friday, but it missed a layup and a pair of free throws on its final possession as it walked off the court with a 70-67 loss to Trinity (Texas).

Albion – powered by Carter Elliott's eight points on 4-for-4 shooting – held a 31-29 lead at halftime. The Britons opened the second half on a 5-0 run as Jordan Herron produced a layup and Vince Hill tacked on a free throw and a jumper to increase the margin to 36-29.

The Britons went on a three-minute scoring drought as Trinity went on an 8-0 run. Matt Hopper produced three baskets as the Tigers edged in front, 37-36, with 16 minutes to play.

The score was tied at 40 when Jonathan Wilt, Matt Selling, and AJ Pulliam led Trinity on an 11-0 spurt. The Tigers maintained the double-digit margin until Albion made its late rally.

Herron produced four of his 12 points down the stretch, hitting a layup and a pair of free throws. Lawrence Ridgell, who finished with 13 points, added a pair of free throws and a 3-point basket. Elliott scored on a layup.

Elliott was an efficient 8-of-9 from the field as he reached double figures for the first time this season with 16 points. Herron, who was 8-of-10 from the free throw line, finished a rebound shy of a double-double.

Hopper and Selling finished with 12 points apiece for Trinity, while Joe Shotland and Robert Kitzinger finished with 11 points each.

Albion, now 4-2 on the season, continues its tour of Chicago Saturday with a 4 p.m. Central Time game against North Park University.
